Garden Tour

My wife, Nina, will be offering a tour of her garden July 24th. Although the focus will be on the charming plants and the interesting combinations of texture and colour, the metalwork will also be on display. This is a fairly new garden of three years effort. We’ve used metal structures to give it some height and to direct some of the vine-y growth. And of course, what is a vegetable garden without bean poles?

I’ve been experimenting with hose guides as sculpture. Simple ones quietly do their job of keeping the hoses off corner plantings. Taller, more elaborate ones serve as sculptural elements and define corners or other passageways. There’s lots half made and it’s been stinking hot, so I’ve not made as much progress as I’d like, but some interesting new forms are coming together – if not this Sunday than at least in time for the Chester Art Festival.
